Science Proves Our Thoughts and Beliefs Affect Our Health
By Nancy Hearn, CNC
Is it possible to change our biology through our thoughts, feelings, and intentions? Over the past 30 to 40 years, hundreds of studies have shown that the beliefs of the mind hold more power over the body than any other factor.
In a new book called The Biology of Belief, Dr. Bruce Lipton examines in great detail the processes by which cells receive information. The implication of Lipton’s research, along with that of other leading edge scientists, radically changes our understanding of life. It shows that genes and DNA do not control our biology but rather it is controlled by signals from outside the cell, including the energetic messages emanating from our positive and negative thoughts.
Dr. Lipton’s synthesis of the latest and best research in cell biology and quantum physics is a major breakthrough, showing that our bodies can be changed as we retrain our thinking. The quantum worldview teaches that we are all part of an infinite field of intelligence—the source of our thoughts, feelings, body and everything else in the universe.
This paradigm is gaining more and more acceptance in Western science and medicine. The implications of this science in regards to healing the physical body are significant and are based on a several key assumptions, including the following:
1. The physical body is composed primarily of energy and information. Even though the physical body appears to be solid matter, quantum physics tell us that every atom is 99.9999 percent empty space. The subatomic particles in the body move at lightning speed and carry information through specific intelligent patterns.
2. The mind and body are inseparable. Thoughts are merely forms of energy and information that influence other forms of energy and information, including the cells of the body. By changing the pattern of thoughts and perceptions, we can change our bodies.
3. The physical world, including the body, is a reflection of one’s beliefs and perceptions. The only reality of the physical world, including the body, is what we perceive it to be. In every moment, our beliefs, thoughts, and emotions influence chemical reactions that take place in every single cell, programming the cells to renewal or decay.
4. Time is eternal and changeless. What we refer to as time is simply a mirror of how we perceive change. The more that we put our attention on the changeless, time as we know it will cease to exist.
5. Our essential nature is one with all living things. Although we typically perceive ourselves as separate and independent of others, we are all part of the same universal presence of life.
Even though these assumptions may be a stretch for some of us to believe, they are deeply rooted in science. In essence, quantum physics tells us that our consciousness does affect the biochemistry of the body, moment by moment. And the more that we believe and can identify with the timeless and changeless nature of our existence, the possibilities for optimal health and wellness are unlimited.
